Sulphur Point Bird Sanctury. Sulphur walkway starts at the Rotorua Lakefront. The path takes walkers along the prominade to a path leading to Motutara Point (Sulphur Bay). This area of the lake is on top of an active geothermal area, so the water is a cloudy white. Further round the point there are boiling mud pools and sulphur vents. The earth's crust is thin in places so visitors should stick to the pathway at all times.

Kuirau Park In Kuirau Park, 5 min walk from the CBD, you can walk around and see boiling mud pools and steaming hot pools.

Blue Lake Walk The 5 km walk around the blue lake takes approximately 90 minutes. The south side of the lake has excellent swimming beaches accessible from the walking track or from the lookout car park between the Blue and Green Lakes. Only 15 minutes drive from downtown Rotorua. About half way around the Blue Lae walk you can detour around the

Green Lake Walk To photo shows the look-out at Tarawera Road at south end of Lake Tikitapu (the Blue Lake). Variety of short and longer walks. Lakefront Road links to Tikitapu circuit.

Redwood Forest An extensive MTB trail network exists within Whakawerawera Forest with over 100km of exclusive mountain bike trails. The trail network is popular with people of all ages and abilities and it is amazing that such a resource if free to use. Also on this popular track you can meander through the breathtaking Californian Redwoods which were planted in 1901. These towering trees stand at approximately 197 feet (60 metres) tall and create a wonderful shelter, along with the under planted European Larch, for a diverse range of native plants and birds. Another feature of this track is the board walk, which takes you across the old thermal pond, home to a variety of exotic aquatic plant life. Admire these magnificent trees which are dedicated to the memory of the men of the New Zealand Forest Service who died in the two World Wars.

Ohinemutu Village Ohinemutu is a lakeside Maori village and definitly worth visiting. It includes St Faith's Church with exquisite Maori carvings. It is approx 5 minues walk from the CBD.
